Old Ruins
The Australian outback contains an assortment of quirky pubs, old ruins, fascinating characters, enduring landscapes and endless yarns. It invokes a spirit of exploration and freedom with its wide open spaces and ever changing skies.
With these old ruins before me and the approaching storm about to bear down on me, it was hard not to reflect on the pioneering spirit of the early European settlers in the often harsh Australian outback. In those early days the outback remained largely unknown to the first settlers. The stunning sunset and storm front allowed an opportunity to capture some of that history alongside the beauty of the area, all while conveying the hardship many of those early settlers had to endure.
